Founder's Story

I grew up spending my school vacations in lush family farms in India. Sustainable farming has always been a part of who I am. In 2016, I inherited our family farm in northern Gujarat, India—a place rich in history and cultural pride with strong agricultural traditions. When I learned about the inheritance, I immediately traveled from my home in California to see it. But what I found there was far from the thriving spice fields I remembered as a child.

The land had been leased to corporations, and the vibrant crops my family had nurtured for generations—spices, millet, and legumes—were replaced by industrial crops like tobacco, castors and genetically modified cotton, Even more disheartening was that many of the younger farmers, including my own cousins, saw farming as something of the past—an unsustainable way of life no longer worthy of respect.

In that moment, I knew I had to do something. I couldn't let our family’s legacy or the connection to the land slip away. So, I made it my mission to restore the farm to its organic roots and give local farmers the tools they needed to thrive again. Every year, I return to India for several months, working side by side with farmers. We learn from each other, and together, we introduce more sustainable, healthy ways of farming that can truly heal the soil and the spirit of the land.

With my sister and brother-in-law by my side, we created pilot programs for sustainable farming practices. It's not just about improving the crops—it's about giving these farmers a sense of pride again. We have expanded the farm and continue to work closely with local farmers, providing them access to better resources and market opportunities.

While improving the land and crop quality, I am also deeply dedicated to ensuring that farmers receive fair market value for their work, and their compensation is not diluted by a trail of unnecessary intermediaries. Not only is this practice unfair to the farmers, it also diminishes the freshness, aroma, and quality of the spices.

My mission doesn’t stop at the farm. It’s deeply important to me that farmers are fairly compensated for their hard work. Too many intermediaries in the supply chain dilute their earnings, and the quality of their crops, the freshness, the aroma of the spices, are lost in the process. That’s why I founded Moon Harvest Organics.

Moon Harvest is built on the values I hold close to my heart. We’re here to offer premium-quality organic spices directly to consumers while nurturing the earth, educating farmers, and ensuring that the hands that tend to the crops are fairly rewarded. For me, it’s personal. This is not just a business; it’s my way of giving back to the land and the farmers who make it possible.
